What goes into a Khan Pallets build
Specifications below are our defaults. Every one of them can be changed to suit your racking, load weight or destination port.

Pallet terms explained
Sizes, types and terminology
The vocabulary buyers and freight forwarders use, in plain terms — so you can specify exactly what you need.
- Standard pallet (1200 × 1000 mm)
- The default across UAE warehousing and the size most racking and container floors are built around. Also sold as the 'industrial' or 'shipping' pallet.
- Euro pallet / EPAL (1200 × 800 mm)
- European standard dimensions, used by exporters and multinationals running pooled pallet systems. Built as a block pallet with nine feet.
- Four-way vs two-way entry
- Four-way entry lets a forklift or pallet jack lift from any side; two-way only from the front and back. Four-way costs slightly more and is worth it in tight aisles.
- Block pallet vs stringer pallet
- Block pallets use nine solid blocks as feet and take load from all four sides. Stringer pallets use three long timber runners — cheaper, but usually two-way entry.
- ISPM-15 heat treatment (HT)
- The international standard for wood packaging crossing borders: timber is heated to 56°C at core for 30 minutes and stamped. Required for sea freight out of Jebel Ali and Khalifa Port.
- Heat treatment vs fumigation
- Both satisfy ISPM-15, but methyl bromide fumigation is being phased out worldwide. Heat treatment is what we use and what most destination ports now expect.
- Recycled Grade A and Grade B
- Grade A is a repaired pallet with no visible damage and consistent sizing. Grade B has cosmetic wear but full structural integrity — fine for internal movement.
- Skids, crates and collars
- A skid is a pallet without a bottom deck. Crates and cases enclose the load for fragile or high-value freight. Collars stack onto a pallet to turn it into a reusable box.
