Standard pallet sizes in the UAE
Every size we hold, in centimetres and millimetres, plus how many fit a container, what suits racking, and when a custom size is cheaper than forcing a standard one.

There is no single legal pallet size in the UAE. What exists in practice is a handful of sizes that racking, containers and forklifts are all comfortable with — plus whatever your product actually needs. Below is every size we hold, followed by how to choose between them.
Stock sizes
| Size (cm) | Size (mm) | Typically used for |
|---|---|---|
| 90 × 90 cm | 900 × 900 mm | Compact / half-load |
| 100 × 100 cm | 1000 × 1000 mm | Square standard |
| 80 × 120 cm | 800 × 1200 mm | Euro pallet (EPAL) |
| 100 × 120 cm | 1000 × 1200 mm | UAE / ISO standard |
| 110 × 110 cm | 1100 × 1100 mm | Asia standard |
| 112 × 112 cm | 1120 × 1120 mm | Drum and chemical loads |
| 114 × 114 cm | 1140 × 1140 mm | Beverage and FMCG |
| 115 × 115 cm | 1150 × 1150 mm | Container-optimised |
| 120 × 120 cm | 1200 × 1200 mm | Heavy-duty export |
| 110 × 130 cm | 1100 × 1300 mm | Oversize loads |
| 120 × 140 cm | 1200 × 1400 mm | Largest stock size |
Everything above is held new, and most of it is available second-hand too, subject to what has come back through the yard that week. Anything outside the list is built to your drawing.
The two sizes that cover most work
1200 × 1000 mm is the UAE workhorse. Most racking here is built around it, it sits well on a container floor, and it is the fastest thing to fulfil from stock. If you have no particular reason to choose otherwise, this is the one.
1200 × 800 mm is the Euro pallet, built to EPAL dimensions. Exporters to Europe and multinationals running pooled pallet systems ask for it by name, because their receiving sites are set up for nothing else.
How many fit in a container
| Pallet size | 20 ft container | 40 ft container |
|---|---|---|
| 1200 × 1000 mm | 9–10 | 20–21 |
| 1200 × 800 mm (Euro) | 11 | 23–24 |
| 1100 × 1100 mm | 8–9 | 18–19 |
Treat these as planning figures rather than promises. Real counts move with how the load is stacked, whether pallets are double-stacked, and how much overhang your cartons have. If container fill is the thing driving your costs, tell us the carton dimensions and we will work backwards to the pallet size instead of the other way round.
Racking, and why squareness matters
A pallet in racking is carrying its load across a gap, supported only at the edges. That is a harder job than sitting on a floor, and it is why the rated capacity for racked storage is lower than for floor stacking. It is also why consistent dimensions matter: a batch that varies by a centimetre will bind in automated systems and jam beam-to-beam clearances.
When a custom size is the cheaper answer
Buyers often force a product onto a standard pallet and pay for it twice — once in wasted deck space, and again in cartons crushed by overhang. If your load is 900 mm across, a 1200 mm deck is 300 mm of timber you bought and are not using.
Standard sizes are cheaper per unit because we run them continuously. But a custom size that fits your load exactly can still work out cheaper per shipment. It is worth doing the arithmetic rather than assuming.
Renting versus buying pallets
People search for pallet rental costs, so it is worth answering plainly: we do not rent pallets. Pallet pooling and rental services exist, and for some operations — large, closed-loop, moving between fixed sites with a shared pool operator — they genuinely make sense.
For most UAE businesses we deal with, they do not. Rental bills you per pallet per day whether the pallet is moving or sitting in a corner, and it commits you to chasing units back and paying for the ones you cannot account for. Buying outright, combined with our buy-back on the pallets you finish with, gives you the same cost control without the tracking overhead. You own the asset, and surplus turns back into money instead of a penalty.
What each size costs
Pallets are priced largely on timber volume, so a 120 × 140 cm pallet costs materially more than a 90 × 90 cm one. Load rating, new or used, quantity and heat treatment all move the figure as well. Rather than publish a price list that will not apply to your job, we go through the seven factors that set the number and quote against your actual specification, usually the same working day.

Wooden vs plastic pallets
Plastic is not better than timber. It is better at particular jobs — and the deciding factor is simpler than most comparisons make it look.
